The thinktank Autonomy is launching a new report today about the need for a shorter working week without loss in pay.
This is a topic that I will return to on this blog. I’m a trade unionist, so workers’ wellbeing and economic justice are important to me. It’s thought that productivity could be boosted by a move in this direction too.
But even as a Personal Trainer I am in favour of this demand, for the clear potential good that it could do for people’s health, mental health, nutrition, and fitness.
We argue that ultimately, a more universal approach to working time reduction is the best way to prevent a ‘new dualism’ between those who can afford free time and those who cannot.
