Powerlifting coaching

Big Bag Training offers a full powerlifting coaching service. Powerlifting is a fun and simple strength sport with huge health and wider life benefits, that we can continue well into our old age. All ages and experience levels are welcome.

I’m a masters (over 40) powerlifter, and British Powerlifting Level 1 Assistant Coach. I have 8 years of experience competing, including internationally, with many podium finishes. I’ve been lucky enough to build the current phase of my life around pursuing strength through powerlifting. Honestly the gains for me are primarily mental and emotional above anything else. Powerlifting can be such a rewarding journey of long-term investment in your own growth, resilience and self-care.

As a coach my approach is holistic. I take an interest in the context of your life as a whole, and how powerlifting fits within it. I seek to help my clients become self-attuned lifters, skilled in making the choices that best support your strength, power and recovery.

The Hour of Power is an informal powerlifting club for women and NBs

We meet at 5:30pm on Thursdays and 10am on Saturdays, at my private studio in south-east central Birmingham (B12). There are 4 spaces each session, offered on a drop-in, first-come-first-served basis. It’s sliding scale, between £10-£20 per session as your budget allows.

What you get:

  • Coaching on the technique and mechanics of barbell squat, bench and deadlift
  • Know-how about accessories and broader strength training advice
  • A chance to train and practice with a small group of like-minded people
  • General programming principles and curated powerlifting resources
  • 4 opportunities to test your 1 rep max each year, at the Big Bag Training community maxouts
  • Guidance on the road to competing, and support with that if it interests you (no obligation or expectation whatsoever)
  • Membership of an inclusive and encouraging peer community to celebrate each others’ journeys

We are currently full and not able to accept new members at this time, but join my mailing list to stay posted of when spaces open.
